As the foundation for the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing machines set to compete in the 2022 AMA Supercross season, the FC 450 Rockstar Edition is an all-new, competition-focused motorcycle built to perform at the very highest level of offroad racing. With a redesigned cylinder head, increased compression, and a refined gearbox, Husqvarna Motorcycles' engineers have unlocked even more power from the SOHC 450 cc engine. Complete with a new frame and lighter, better performing WP Suspension for improved handling, the revised machine is complete with new bodywork, which is adorned with the latest Rockstar Energy Husqvarna replica graphic kit.

Exhaust system

Designed from lightweight aluminum, the exhaust system on the FC 450 Rockstar Edition features a flow-designed resonance chamber that is integrated into the header pipe. The silencer has a short and compact design, delivering impressive power output while keeping decibels as low as possible.

Factory wheel set

Superior craftsmanship at its finest. Black anodized D.I.D. DirtStar rims laced to CNC-machined aluminum hubs using high quality spokes creates an exceptionally strong pair of wheels. Fork

Featuring a capsulated air spring and pressurized oil chamber, the new WP XACT 48 mm split air fork delivers incredible performance. With oil and air bypasses reducing pressure peaks, in combination with a mid-valve damping system the fork provides exceptional feedback and rider comfort. A new hydrostop system creates a more progressive damping force in the last 40 mm of travel for improved bottoming resistance.

Shock

Fully redesigned to be 15 mm shorter, the WP XACT rear shock is 100 grams lighter while retaining 300 mm of rear wheel travel. Matched to a revised linkage system that features new geometery, the shock offers progressive damping and superior energy absorption.

Frame

Black powder coated for a true race team look, the new hydro-formed, laser-cut, and robot-welded steel frame is expertly crafted. Constructed with specifically calculated parameters of longitudinal and torsional flex, the chassis provides exceptional rider feedback, energy absorption, and straight-line stability. All-new, larger footrests are mounted closer to the center of the motorcycle and help maintain forward momentum through deep ruts. Additionally, a new polyamide skid plate is fitted to protect the frame and engine from hard impacts.

Subframe

Unique to Husqvarna Motorcycles, the new composite subframe is manufactured using advanced technologies. Constructed with a blend of 60% polyamide and 40% aluminum, the subframe weighs only 1.8 kilograms and is incredibly durable. Designed with the assistance of computational dynamics, specific rigidity has been engineered into the subframe to enhance overall handling and rider comfort.

Swingarm

The new aluminum swingarm has been designed to ensure optimal stiffness and durability using an improved die-casting process to reduce weight by approximately 190 grams. Further accentuating the revised flex characteristics from the new chassis, a new 22 mm rear axle has been fitted. Additionally, the chain guard and glider have been redesigned with a smoother profile and offer improved durability.

CLASS-LEADING PERFORMANCE

Engine

The new SOHC, 450 cc engine is the result of advanced engineering techniques and tips the scales at just 59 lb (26.8 kg). Mass-centralization of the key components was key during the design process, as was repositioning the engine closer to the center of gravity for improved handling and agility. This was achieved by tilting the engine 2 degrees backwards, which resulted in the countershaft sprocket being positioned 3 mm lower. The end result is significantly improved anti-squat behavior from the chassis for smoother acceleration on rough terrain.

CYLINDER HEAD

Featuring a redesigned and incredibly compact SOHC cylinder head that places the camshaft as close as possible to the center of gravity, overall handling and agility is significantly enhanced. Complete with lightweight valves actuated via a rocker arm, the timing is designed to create improved torque and a precise throttle response. Connecting the head to the chassis, parallel frame mounts improve the chassis flex characteristics while retaining unrivalled stability.

CYLINDER AND PISTON

Weighing just 327 grams, the lightweight aluminum cylinder is an engineering masterpiece. Inside the 95 mm bore, the CP bridged-box-type piston features anodized annular grooves for added durability and longer service intervals. For improved peak performance, the compression ratio has been increased to 13.1:1.

Gearbox

Redesigned for 2022, the Pankl Racing Systems five-speed gearbox maintains it's low weight and incredible durability. The addition of a new Quickshift sensor fitted to the shift drum ensures smoother upshifts, even when the engine is under heavy load. A low-friction coating on the shifting fork further enhances positive gear changes.

DS clutch

The FC 450 Rockstar Edition is equipped with a revised DDS (Dampened Diaphragm Steel) clutch. Unique in design, the exclusive characteristics of this system include a single diaphragm steel pressure plate, instead of traditional coil springs, with an integrated damping system for better traction and durability. Complete with a CNC-machined steel clutch basket adapted for the new five-speed transmission, the single-piece component allows the use of thin steel liners and contributes to the compact design of the engine.

Brembo brakes

Brembo brakes deliver class-leading braking performance. With a 260 mm floating front disc and a 220 mm wave rear disc, the incredible stopping power allows for late braking, which leads to faster lap times. For added protection, a new polyamide composite front disc protector is fitted.

PRECISE HANDLING

Easy Shift

Ensuring smooth upshifts, the new Easy shift feature allows for positive gear changes even when the throttle is fully open. This clever functionality works by a sensor on the shift drum sending a signal to the ECU, which momentarily interrupts the ignition for a fraction of a second when it registers the force from the shift lever. Quickshift can easily be activated or deactivated via the handlebar-mounted Map Select Switch.

Map switch

Resigned for easier operation, the handlebar-mounted Map Select Switch allows for either of the two preset engine maps to be selected. With additional buttons for engaging launch and traction control, as well as one to activate the new Quickshift functionality, the performance of the FC 450 Rockstar Edition is fully customizable via the Map Select Switch.

Electric start and Li-Ion battery

Keeping overall weight to a minimum and ensuring fast, reliable starting, the Li-Ion 2.0 Ah battery fitted to the FC 450 Rockstar Edition is approximately 2.2 lb (1 kg) lighter than a conventional lead battery. Additionally, the electric start button now controls the stopping of the engine for a simplified experience.
