ACCURATE SEED PLACEMENT

The accurate seed placement is ideal for small grains such as wheat, barley, rice and canola. The new scraper and opener geometry allow for consistent seeding depth across the range of operations. There is no need for a seed shelf, as the seed can be placed in the bottom of the trench. High mounting of the seed tube ensures reduced wear, long life, and reduced plugging over the competition. The 18 in. (457.2 mm) disc cuts cleanly through the heaviest crop residue to ensure optimal seed-to-soil contact. This ideal disc size reduces residue 'hair pinning' and maximizes seed-to-soil contact for ideal seed germination. The discs are also set at a seven-degree angle to open a uniform seed trench where the seed is accurately placed.

CLOSING SYSTEM DESIGNED TO ACCOMMODATE VARIOUS SOIL CONDITIONS

A heavy-duty-rubber, smooth-faced concave 4 x 12 in. (101.6 x 304.8 mm) packer wheel is designed specifically for exceptional closing in tough conditions, whether you have clay, sand or both types of soils. The double-edge closing wheel follows behind to seal the trench and is effective in a wide variety of soil conditions. The closed trench is essential to providing maximum seed-to-soil contact for uniform germination and plant stand establishment. The hollow center of the closing system further maintains a smooth field finish and reduces soil compaction.

VARIABLE PACKING PRESSURE RANGE ADJUSTMENT

The operator can further tailor the drill for varying moisture conditions and soil types with the variable packing pressure range adjustment. There are three convenient settings of 60, 75 and 85 lbs. (27.2, 34, and 38.6 kg) of available variable packing pressure for each row unit.

IN-CAB DOWN-PRESSURE CONTROL

In-cab hydraulic down pressure adjustment is standard equipment, allowing operators to make on-the-go adjustments without leaving the seat by using the IntelliView™ IV display. SECTIONAL CONTROL

P2080 drills can now be set up with P1000 Series New Holland Air Carts equipped with two-section control. This option provides capabilities to shut off drill sections with the push of a button, or automatically via GPS. This option significantly reduces input costs and increases yields by eliminating overlap on turn rows and odd-shaped fields.

SEPARATE, FIXED PLACEMENT ZONES FOR SEED AND FERTILIZER

The unique precision sideband knife creates an ideal “shelf” for the seed with fertilizer banded one inch (25.4 mm) below and one inch (25.4 mm) to the side of the seed – ideal placement for maximum uptake when the seed germinates, and optimal seed-to-fertilizer placement. 

The seed knife is cast using unique metal chemistry and a carbide edge for durability and extended wear. In addition, the knife is cushioned and rubber shock isolated to prevent damage from impacts. The knife is easy to replace when needed.

The double-shoot precision placement knife places seed and fertilizer in separate planes in a single operation for maximum uptake and optimal seed-to-fertilizer placement.

ALL-NEW CLOSING SYSTEM

The P2185 disc drill comes standard with indexable angle settings, allowing operators to set for effective seed trench closing, no matter the conditions —from conventional to no-till. The hollow center reduces compaction while providing excellent seed-to-soil contact. There is up to 100 lbs. (45.6 kg) of available pressure – with three convenient pressure settings of 60, 70 and 100 lbs. (27.2, 31.8 and 45.6 kg). It maintains a smooth field finish in the softest conditions yet can also be adjusted to properly close the seed trench in the absolute heaviest soils.

MOUNTED SEED TANK

The P2185 features a mounted seed tank. It is specifically designed for easy access to metering assembly for adjusting, cleanout and servicing. It includes a non-pressurized tank, eliminating air leaks. The tank evens the weight distribution across the machine and adds maneuverability around corners while transporting equipment. A high flotation walking beam tandem axle is standard on all models. It features walking beam tandem axles on both the front and the rear mainframe of the 30 ft. (9.1 m) and 40 ft. (12.2 m) units. This unique feature provides maximum flotation and ideal weight distribution across the entire width of the drill for the toughest field conditions. In addition, this axle allows for better ground following and better emergence on wheel tracks.

NEW SEED METER & DRIVE SYSTEM

The P2185 mounted tank model includes a new seed meter. It offers fine, medium, and coarse rollers that cover all crops, easy cleanout serviceability, and quick change meters for added versatility. The new drive system offers variable rate drive standard, exceptional population control accuracy, programmable population settings in-cab for easy switching between rates, and prescription seeding capability on all mounted units.

MONITOR SYSTEM

The P2185 offers ISO11783 Electronics compatible with IntelliView™ monitors. Its convenient one-page display shows all that is necessary for operation, and its new flow sensors provide population estimates for larger seeded crops. A bar graph provides target rate, limits, and blockage information, while the GPS or radar speed inputs provide accurate seeding rates.
