Powerful 999 cc Twin-Cylinder Engine with Unicam® Design

Experience unparalleled power with our liquid-cooled 999 cc parallel-twin engine, featuring the proven Unicam® cylinder head design from our championship-winning CRF450R motocrosser. This compact design allows for optimal weight distribution and ground clearance, while delivering high horsepower and abundant torque.

High-Flow Hardware for Serious Power

The engine breathes exceptionally well thanks to a high-lift, long-duration camshaft, twin 46 mm throttle bores, roller-tip rocker arms, and high-flow fuel injectors. The result is improved efficiency, reduced friction, and strong power output throughout the rpm range—perfect for off-road performance.

Advanced Oil Control for High-Load Performance

Semi-dry-sump lubrication keeps oil away from the crankshaft to prevent windage losses and ensures consistent oiling under extreme conditions. Oil-jet pistons help maintain cooler temperatures and better sealing, extending piston life and boosting power.

Engine Air Intake

Clean air is critical for optimal performance. The air filter is positioned high over the engine and to the side for a steady supply of clean air, ensuring consistent engine output in all conditions.

Dual-Pin Offset Crankshaft

Offsetting the cylinders’ crankpins by 270 degrees delivers a wide, smooth powerband and abundant torque, while integrated counterbalancers keep vibration to a minimum.

Engineered for Strength and Smoothness

The engine is mounted behind the cab for optimal balance and neutral weight distribution. Rubber mounts isolate vibration for a smoother ride, and four engine mounts add strength under high loads.

Automatic Six-Speed DCT

Our class-leading Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) allows you to choose between manual or automatic control, and provides true engine braking and superior peformance to belt-driven CVTs. Steering-column paddle shifters let you override gears effortlessly, and Advanced Transmission Logic adapts to your driving style, holding or shifting gears for sport or relaxed driving.

i-4WD with 2WD/4WD Shift on the Fly

The second-generation intelligent i-4WD system helps maintain traction even if one of the wheels spins. Torque-biasing brake control allows seamless, on-the-fly shifting between 2WD and 4WD for maximum control and effortless steering.

Hill Start Assist

Prevents rollback when transitioning from brake to accelerator on uphill or downhill grades.

chassis and suspension

Advanced Semi-Active Suspension with FOX Live Valve 2.5 Shocks

The semi-active FOX Live Valve 2.5 shocks dynamically adjust compression damping for each wheel in real-time, reducing body roll, smoothing terrain navigation, and preventing bottoming. Combined with dual A-arm independent front suspension (14.6 inches of travel) and Honda's 3 - link trailing arm (15.1 inches of travel), this setup maintains optimal wheel geometry, providing superior handling, plush comfort, and excellent control over rough terrain.

Dual-Rate Springs for Balanced Handling

Dual-rate suspension springs combine a soft initial travel with a firmer second phase to resist bottoming and offer a balanced ride. Along with a slight rear weight bias (44% front, 56% rear), the Talon achieves optimal sport driving dynamics with stable handling, precise steering, and high-speed tracking.

Electric Power Steering (EPS)

The Honda EPS eliminates bump steer, reduces driver fatigue, and provides extra assistance at lower speeds and in 4WD mode. Specially tuned for sport driving, the system requires no belts or pumps to slip or fail.

High-Performance Braking System

Braking is handled by 250 mm discs at all four corners, with 34 mm twin-piston calipers up front and 34 mm single-piston calipers in the rear. Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) optimizes braking power for superior control in all conditions.

Chassis Protection and Durability

The Talon features a robust chassis with a durable powder-coated frame finish, skid plates to protect undercarriage components, and a standard front bumper designed to slide over obstacles, and a built-in recovery hook mounting point for secure transport or recovery operations.

Premium Seating Comfort

The easily adjustable driver’s seat, tilt steering wheel, twin-level front passenger footrests, integrated inner door handles, and passenger 'T' grab handles all enhance comfort, control, and accessibility. Additionally, industry-leading seats provide wide seatbacks and bottoms for maximum comfort and lateral support and are compatible with four-point harnesses.

High-Capacity Bed with Secure Tie-Downs

The high-mounted cargo bed has a 136 kg (300 lb). capacity and six tie-down points, accommodating large items like a 45-quart cooler. Two 12-volt accessory charging ports, secure cup holders, a flag mount, and an integrated switch panel for easy accessory installation ensure convenience on the trail.
