The Future Isn't What It Used To Be Horizon Thumb 007

Advances in seed genetics and growing methods predict yields to average over 300 bushels/acre by 2030. Geringhoff's Independence prototype header is designed to lead the way along with North America's top seed companies and the world's most progressive farming operations. The Independence sets new expectations and introduces a new way to harvest corn.

8 Years In The Making

Over 8 years and $4 million in development, Geringhoff's engineers have worked alongside the best in the industry and rethought the process. The Independence establishes a superior method of harvesting corn.
Horizon Thumb 009 The Freedom To Harvest Your Way

Wide row, narrow row, double row, even a solid seeded field. On the row, off the row, in any direction. Seed corn, thick silage, high moisture or dry and fragile. Geringhoff's Independence prototype leads the future of harvesting.
Cutting DiscsHorizon Thumb 010

Once the stalks are positioned properly by the corn guides, the two large silage style blades cut the stalk off at the base allowing the inter meshing rollers to grab the stalk and pull it through. The large style cutting discs are necessary to react to the higher quantity of crop coming into the machine at once, as well as cover a larger amount of space between the rows.
Corn Guides/ Accelerators Horizon Thumb 011

The hydraulically activated corn accelerators are positioned just above the ear and spin in opposite directions. These accelerators grab the stalk and pull it directly to the center of the row unit to be cut. This patented grabbing and pulling technique is what positions the stalks to be harvested safely and efficiently, with minimal kernel loss.

Free Yourself

While working with some of the industry’s best, Geringhoff sees a quest for higher yields. As advances in seed genetics and growing methods predict yields to increase from the current average of around 170 bushels/ acre to over 300 bushels/acre by 2030, traditional corn heads will not be sufficient.

It also opens up the opportunity of harvesting solid seeded corn fields. Instead of planting in the traditional 15, 20, or 30 inch rows corn growers are accustomed to, the practice of planting corn with a wheat drill becomes a real possibility. This allows the grower to increase the population of corn that is not possible with a traditional corn planter and row crop harvester.

Geringhoff is always on the forefront of harvesting technology, and with the Independence, true harvest freedom is finally a reality.
